    ROCKFORD —The tail end of a long season for Parkway brought MAC foe Delphos St. John’s to Rockford. As each teams prepares for the sectional tournament next week, it was the Blue Jays who captured their fourth straight overall in a 62-35 win.

    SPENCERVILLE — For three quarters, Lincolnview controlled Friday night’s Northwest Conference tilt at Spencerville. In the fourth, however, the Bearcats cranked up the intensity and stormed from behind to grab a 52-45 victory. The win gives the Bearcats their first-ever outright NWC title.

    DELPHOS — Allen County hoteliers got little satisfaction from a meeting with county commissioners Friday morning concerning a proposed increase in the county’s lodging tax to boost the Veterans Memorial Convention and Civic Center in downtown Lima. The property is owned by the county.

    DELPHOS — Lloyd B. Smith, of Delphos, 96, died Saturday at Van Crest of Delphos.

  • VAN WERT — Sheriff Thomas M. Riggenbach has released the Sheriff’s Office Activity Report.

    For the month of January, Sheriff’s Office cruisers traveled 23,194 miles while on patrol answering citizens’ complaints, serving criminal and civil papers, performing other Sheriff’s Office functions and transporting prisoners to state institutions and juveniles to juvenile detention center facilities.
