DELPHOS — Thanksgiving is one of the busiest travel times and the third most dangerous holiday on American roadways where millions of people traverse long distances to celebrate the holiday with family and friends. The heightened number of vehicles on the road and travel times in addition to weather related variables, can lead to an increase in distractions, drowsiness and risky driving.
According to National Coalition for Safer Road (NCSR) Safer Roads Report 2014: “Trends in Red-Light Running”, there were 31,790 reported red-light violations during the Thanksgiving holiday period in 2013, leaving intersections across the U.S. at a higher risk for vehicle collisions.
