VAN WERT – The unofficial May 8, 2018, primary results are in, and 4,874 Van Wert County ballots were cast. The most heated race for Van Wert County was that of County Commissioner between incumbent Thad Lichtensteiger and newcomer Vicki Profit. Lichtensteiger won with 2,936 (72.40 percent) votes over Profit’s 1,119 (27.60 percent) votes.

After the race, Lichtensteiger was pleased that he will have another four years to serve Van Wert County.

“I’m grateful for the support of friends, family, and the good people that believe in me to continue to be a decision-maker,” said Lichtensteiger.

“Stacy Adam, our Economic Development Director – I have supreme confidence in her ability,” added Lichtensteiger of what he is looking forward to for his next term. “If Van Wert is to succeed it will be because of Stacy Adam. She is the most talented person that we have in economic development. Part of doing this job and getting it right is getting great talent and people, and that still remains job number one.”

There was no Democratic or independent competitor, so Lichtensteiger will head into his third term as County Commissioner on Jan. 1, 2019.
