DELPHOS — Dr. John F. Grone, chiropractor, 74, of Delphos died at 6 a.m. Thursday at St. Rita's Medical Center's hospice unit.
He was born Jan. 20, 1943 in Delphos to Frank F. and Evelyn C. (Rahrig) Grone, who preceded him in death.
On March 14, 1970, he married Ruth M. Drebenstedt of Mediapolis, Iowa, who survives in Delphos.
started Grone Chiropractic in 1971 in Elida and then moved to Delphos,
where he practiced until 2017. He was a U. S. Army veteran surviving
during Vietnam and a life member of the Ottoville VFW Post 3740. His
accomplishments include helping start Life University of Marietta,
Georgia, and supporting the Delphos St. Johns Athletic Boosters. He
enjoyed working with his hands and very proud of building his new house
and being able to incorporate pieces from his childhood home. His
memberships included the Lehman Pride Motor Trike Organization and the
Chiropractic Association of Ohio.
Survivors also include a son,
Fred R. (Kristine) Grone of Florida; a daughter, Rebecca M. "Becky"
(Scott) Burden of Lima; grandchildren, Kathryn and Michelle "Emi" Grone
and Scott Jr., Matthew and Alex Burden; a brother, Irvin B. (Mary) Grone
of Delphos; a sister, Irene C. Kaufman of Ottawa; and a sister-in-law -
Octavia Grone of Fort Jennings.
He was also preceded in death by brothers George L. Grone and Elmer E. Grone; and granddaughter, Angela M. Burden.
family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Saturday at Bayliff & Son
Funeral Home, 311 W. Main St., Cridersville. Military rites will be
observed at 7 p.m. Saturday and a celebration of Doc's life will follow
where people will be encouraged to share memories.
