DELPHOS — Norman J. Knippen, 95, of Delphos, passed away Friday St. Rita’s Medical Center.

His Family…. He was born July 1, 1921, in Delphos to Benedict and Josephine (Saum) Knippen, who preceded him in death.

On June 18, 1947, he married Alice C. (Kaverman) Knippen, who preceded him in death on Feb. 21, 2014.

Norman is survived by five sons, Tom (Sue) Knippen of Delphos, Dan (Sue) Knippen of Fort Jennings, Paul (Karen) Knippen of Delphos, Ralph (Doreen) Knippen of Fort Jennings and Ron (Sheree) Knippen of Fort Jennings; three daughters, Ann (Ron) Mueller of Delphos, Laura (Jim) Buettner of Fort Jennings and Patty (Rob) Buescher of Delphos; 31 grandchildren; and 41 great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Evelyn Ricker, Ruby Miller and Sally Wallenhorst.

His Legacy…. Norman was a farmer. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, St. Vincent dePaul and the K of C Council 1362 of Delphos. He served in the United States Army. He previously served on the board of directors at Fort Jennings Equity Elevator and German Mutual Insurance Company.

His Farewell Services.… Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, the Rev. Dennis Walsh officiating. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery with graveside military rites conducted by the Delphos Veterans Council.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Sunday and 2-8 p.m. on Monday, with a Parish Wake at 7:30 p.m. Monday at Weber Funeral Home, Delphos.

Memorial contributions may be made to Delphos St. John’s Parish Foundation, the St. John’s Teacher’s Endowment Fund or the St. Vincent DePaul Society.
