Lady Pirates mash Jefferson

DELPHOS — The Lady Pirates of Continental (2-6) had a decisive 19-3 win Tuesday night over the Lady Wildcats (2-10) of Delphos Jefferson.

The Pirates were led by Jade Zachrich’s four hits, Amber Logan’s three hits and a smash by freshman Kennedy Hiltner off the scoreboard to support a terrific pitching effort by Logan

Michelle Rode and Abby Parkins provided the offense for Delphos.

Jefferson visits Spencerville Thursday.

Lady T-Birds uproot Big Green

OTTOVILLE — Lima Central Catholic’s softball squad doubled-up Ottoville’s 21-10 in non-league action Tuesday at Ottoville.

The game was called after five innings for the mercy rule.

The Lady Big Green actually out-hit the Lady Thunderbirds 16-12.

Ottoville is at Lincolnview today.

Grove bests Musketeers in PCL baseball

COLUMBUS GROVE — The Columbus Grove baseball team bested Fort Jennings 8-5 in Putnam County League action Tuesday at Columbus Grove.

The Bulldogs out-hit the Musketeers (4-6, 0-2 PCL) 10-8, as well as took advantage of five errors by the visitors.

Owen Fuerst (2 runs batted in) and Adam Birkemeier (2 runs scored) went 3-for-3 for the Bulldogs, while Wyatt Seibert went 2-for-3 (3 RBIs).

Brandon Wehri was 3-for-4 for the Musketeers (2 RBIs, run), while Aaron Sealts was 2-for-3 (2 runs, RBI) and Sam Vetter 2-for-4 (RBI).

LIMA — Lima Central Catholic’s Brady Jennings and Kalida’s Grant Laudick locked up in a classic pitchers’ duel Tuesday afternoon at LCC’s Players Field.

Laudick tossed a 4-hitter and walked two but Jennings was even better; ceding four hits by fanning nine while walking one in a 1-0 victory.
