Lady Jays pull away from Indians

SHAWNEE — The St. John’s girls basketball unit did an outstanding defensive job on Shawnee senior sharpshooter Britt Lauck and pulled away the fourth period 16-4 for a 46-30 non-league girls basketball triumph over the Lady Indians Monday night inside Lappin Gymnasium.

Lauck, the lone Tribe senior, did score 17 points and added eight boards and three blocked shots, but she had to work hard for those points. Abby Waddle added five points for the Tribe (4-3).

The Lady Blue Jays (4-3) almost had a pair of double-double players in senior Jessica Recker (12 markers, 9 dimes) and freshman Sydney Fischbach (10 counters, 9 caroms). Senior Katie Vorst added 10 markers.

St. John’s led 30-26 to enter the fourth period and when Shawnee tried to extend their pressure with more intensity, they attacked the basket and built their lead.

St. John’s is off until Dec. 27 when they visit Spencerville.

Shawnee hosts Ottawa-Glandorf Thursday in Western Buckeye League action.

Lady Knights double-up Musketeers

FORT JENNINGS — The home court of The Fort was no help for the Fort Jennings Lady Muskeeters as Crestview doubled them up 46-23 Monday night in non-league cage action.

Kennis Mercer and Emily Bauer scored 12 markers each and Lindsay Motycka added 10 for the Lady Knights (6-1).

No Lady Musketeer (3-5) was in double digits, with the highest scorer being Alyssa Schimmoeller’s seven.

Crestview hosts Lima Central Catholic Thursday in NWC action, while the Musketeers host Wayne Trace 1 p.m. Saturday.
