OTTOVILLE - Thursday night in front of a nice crowd at the L.W. Heckman Gymnasium, the Lady Green of Ottoville welcomed the Panthers of McComb High School under the direction of head coach Jeremy Herr.
The game was a very close, hard-fought contest that saw the Lady Green finally pull away in the second half and come away with a 60-45 non-league victory over the Panthers.
The night featured the last home game that four seniors would wear the green and gold and play in front of the Lady Green faithful. Seniors Nicole Vorst, Rachel Turnwald, Rachel Beining and Abby Siefker have given the home-team fans a lot to cheer for over the last four years.

A look at their history is truly a remarkable high school career in which they hope to continue heading into tournament play next week. The stats show how successful these four ladies, along with their teammates have been: Four years (2010-13) Putnam County League Champions/28-0 in PCL play; never lost a home game; and with the win this night, their teams have combined for an 86-5 mark (95% winning percentage).

Big Green head coach Dave Kleman was quick to point out that these girls are successful both on and off the court: “Academically, they’re great kids; all are going to college and all have chosen where they’re headed and what they want to pursue on and off the basketball court. They are great examples for the rest of our kids. They work hard – first to come into practice and the last to leave – spend a lot of time after practice working on their shooting or helping the underclassman. They did the things this summer preparing them to be both physically and emotionally ready for the grind of the season.”
