Ruth E. Bowsher, 87, of rural Spencerville, died at 11:45 p.m. Tuesday in the Roselawn Manor Nursing Home, where she had resided in the Assisted Living area since January.
She was born Aug. 21, 1925, near Mendon in Mercer County, to Lewis M. and Christena L. Rauch Bolton, who preceded her in death.
On Nov. 5, 1944, she married Layton C. Bowsher, who died June 22, 2002.
Survivors include three children, Larry W. (Judy) Bowsher of Elgin, Doris E. (Ben) Hyde of Kempner, Texas, and Ronald L. (Cindy) Bowsher of Spencerville; eight grandchildren, Ann (Trent) Cox of Lima, David (Katie) Bowsher of Langsville, Ohio, Lynette (Matt) Voss of Siloan Springs, Ark., Bethany and Brittany Hyde of Kempner, Texas, and Audrey, Allison and Ryan Bowsher of Spencerville; eight great-grandchildren, Emily, Ian, Elena, Olivia and Owen Cox, Cassie Bowsher and Quin and Luke Voss; a brother, Robert Bolton of Zanesville; and a sister-in-law, Belle Bolton of Van Wert.
She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Emily Bowsher; and by siblings, Helen Bolton, Margaret Krugh, Edwin Bolton and Paul Bolton.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday in the Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home in Spencerville, with Pastors Gary Hohman and Jim Mortemore officiating. Burial will follow in Spencerville Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Sunday and after 9:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
