DARE plans Fishing Derby PDF Print E-mail

The eighth biannual Van Wert County DARE Fishing Derby will be held Sept. 14 and 15 at the Middle Point Quarry just east of the village of Middle Point on Middle Point Road.

Fishing starts at 7 a.m. and runs to 5 p.m.

The cost of the event is $50 for adults both days and $30 for one day. The cost for youth ages 10 to 17 is $25 for both days and $15 for one day.

Youth must have a release signed by parent or guardian, wear a life vest while on the water and must be with a parents, guardian or family member.

A rules waiver must be signed. There will be no fishing from the bank; boats only. No alcohol is permitted and life vests on the boat and trolling motors only.

All fish can be kept.

Prize money is $50 per day for the largest fish and total weight of five fish.
