Lady Green brooms away Rams in volleyball

OTTOVILLE — Ottoville's volleyballers handed Upper Scioto Valley 25-20, 25-15, 25-15 Tuesday at L.W. Heckman Gymnasium.

Chelsey Boecker led the Lady Green in serving (14/16, 4 aces), with Nicole Kramer the top defender (17 digs), setter Lexie Thorbahn (34/34 setting, 17 assists) and attacker Annie Lindeman (15.17 hitting, 8 kills).

USV won the junior varsity 24-26, 25-15, 25-23.

Ottoville hosts Wayne Trace 6 p.m. Thursday.


Lancers grab NWC quad

KALIDA — Led by the 41 of Joshah Rager, Lincolnview knocked off Crestview, Ada and host Columbus Grove 171-188-210-212 in a Northwest Conference golf quad at Kalida’s Country Acres.

Derek Youtsey shot a 42 for the Lancers.

Jake Mengerink and Jon Germann were low man for the Knights with rounds of 46.

Slade Downing's 46 paced Ada.

For the host Bulldogs, Logan Diller carded a 47 and Brandon Hoffman a 51.

Lincolnview is in the Jefferson quad match at 4 p.m. today; Crestview is in the Allen East 5-team meet 4 p.m. Thursday; and Grove is in the Delphos Country Club Invitational 8:30 a.m. Saturday.

Mustangs stampede Lincolnview volleyballers

HARROD — Host Allen East handed Lincolnview a 22-25, 25-22, 25-23, 25-19 Northwest Conference volleyball loss Tuesday.

Leading the Lady Lancers were Ashley McClure (10 kills, 7 aces), Baylee Neate (9 kills) and Kelsey Mohr (9 kills), Devann springer (20 assists), Katie McClure (12 digs) and Ashley Teman (11 digs).

Lincolnview hosts Bluffton 6 p.m. Thursday.


LadyCats pound Pirates at the net

CONTINENTAL — Kalida's volleyball unit swept host Continental 25-22, 25-9, 25-13 in Putnam County League action Tuesday.

Pacing the LadyCats were Morgan Niese (10 kills, 3 solo blocks), Alexis Decker (4 aces, 5 kills, 9 assists), Kennedy Hoffman (5 aces, 5 digs), Nicole Recker (8 assists) and Liz Turnwald (4 digs).

Kalida visits Ayersville 6 p.m. Thursday.

Muskingum whitewashes BU men on the pitch

NEW CONCORD — The Bluffton University men's soccer team headed south for its first road match of the season at Muskingum University on a balmy Tuesday. Playing under the lights, Bluffton couldn't find its rhythm offensively as the home team netted a 2-0 victory over the Beavers.

With less than three minutes to play in the opening half, Muskingum made it 1-0 when a Bluffton header went awry. Cody Sprague took advantage as the home team finished the half with a 10-4 advantage in shots.
Bluffton forced the action in the second half, putting up three more shots than Muskingum (7-4), However, the Fighting Muskies again found the back of the net midway through to cap off their 2-0 shutout of the Beavers. Andreas Pfeffercorn used a touch from John Barr for his sixth goal of the season.
Muskingum finished with a slim 14-11 edge in shots to go along with its 10-6 advantage in corner kicks. T.J. Kline (Mogadore/Lake Center Christian), Peter Carlson (Toledo/Springfield), Adrian Ramirez (Archbold) and Grant Stutzman (Sugarcreek/Hiland) all fired two shots for the Beavers.
A road trip to Wittenberg is the next item on the agenda for the Beavers who will travel to Springfield on Saturday for a 3:30 p.m. matchup.
