She was born Dec. 5, 1911, in Van Wert County, a daughter of Apollos and Ida Detrick Hoover, who preceded her in death.
On Oct. 2, 1937, she married Francis Joseph Meier, who preceded her in death on Nov. 16, 1966.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews, her “special friends” and her Roselawn family.
She was also preceded in death by 13 siblings, Clara Pickering, Oliver, Hazel, Walter, Howard and Ben Hoover, Cleo Ickes, Martha Countryman, John, Lawrence, Margaret, Roy and Frances “Sissie” Hoover.
Sally was a homemaker and a member of the Spencerville First Baptist Church where she was very active through the years and was a wonderful caregiver to many of her family and friends. She enjoyed cooking and baking for her friends and neighbors, going to Kewpee and Lee’s Chicken, loved her cats on the farm and bingo at Roselawn. She drove her car until she was 97 years young.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home in Spencerville, Pastor Jim Fletcher officiating. Burial will follow in the Spencerville Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist church or to the Roselawn Manor Activities Fund.
