DELPHOS — Shawnee’s girls basketball team battled by St. John’s 46-40 in a girls non-league basketball defensive tussle Monday night at Robert A. Arnzen Gymnasium.

Leading the host Lady Blue Jays (3-3) were sophomore Lexie Hays with nine and senior Erica Saine and sophomore Sydney Fischbach (7 boards) with seven each. However, the Blue and Gold committed 33 turnovers.

On behalf of the Lady Tribe (3-4), Rachel Evans topped the scoring column with 12 and Maryssa Herschler (9 caroms) added nine. The Indians turned it over 25 times.

The Blue Jays’ junior varsity stayed perfect at 6-0 with a 28-18 victory.
