The following individuals appeared Tuesday before Judge Charles Steele in Van Wert County Common Pleas Court:        
Steven Darnell, 23, Van Wert, was sentenced to three years of community control on a charge of burglary, a felony of the fourth degree. 
According to a Van Wert City Police Department investigation, Darnell, along with a Joel Crawford, went to a West First Street residence in Van Wert and they entered the home uninvited and had become involved in a physical altercation. No one was seriously injured in the incident.
Judge Steele gave Darnell a 60-day jail sentence and gave him credit for time served which had amounted to 72 days. Darnell will be under the supervision of the Van Wert County Probation Department.  
A basic 12-month prison sentence was given Darnell with the imposition of the prison sentence deferred pending the successful completion of the community control program. 
Joel Crawford, 22, Van Wert, was sentenced to three years of community control and ordered to spend up to six months at the WORTH Center in Lima on a charge of burglary, a felony of the third degree. 
According to a Van Wert City Police Department investigation, Crawford, along with a Steven Darnel, went to a West First Street residence in Van Wert and they entered the home uninvited and became involved in a physical altercation. No one was seriously injured in the incident.
Judge Steele reminded Crawford that he had prior issues with substance abuse and some theft convictions. 
Crawford will be under the standard conditions of community control and was ordered to pay all costs associated with his case. 
Judge Steele gave Crawford a basic prison term of one year but deferred the imposition of the prison sentence pending the successful completion of the community control program. 
Scott D. Bauer, 48, Defiance, was placed on three years of community control on a charge of assault, a felony of the fourth degree. 
Bauer was accused of assault on a Van Wert County Deputy during an October 2010 incident that took place at a Convoy residence.
Bauer had successfully completed a rehabilitation program administered by Nova House.
Judge Steele placed Bauer on 60 days of electronic monitored house arrest, ordered him to pay all court costs and gave him a 15-month prison sentence with the imposition of the prison sentence deferred pending the successful completion of the community control program. 
Carl Donley, 39, Decatur, Ind., was placed on three years of community control and ordered to immediately spend 60 days in the Van Wert County Jail on a charge of assault, a felony of the fourth degree. 
The assault charge resulted from an incident that took place on Oct. 9, 2010, in Convoy where Convoy Marshall was assaulted by Donley during a traffic stop.  Donley, a passenger in the vehicle, began pushing the officer.
Donley was ordered to spend the community control time under the standard conditions of the Van Wert County Probation Department.
Donley was also given a basic prison sentence of 12 months with the imposition of the prison sentence deferred pending the successful completion of the community control program. 
Kevin Krick, 48, Van Wert, was sentenced to one year of community control on a charge of domestic violence, a misdemeanor of the first degree. 
Krick will be under the supervision of the Van Wert County Adult Probation Department with the standard rules of probation to apply. 
Krick allegedly caused or attempted to cause harm to a family member. 
Judge Steele gave Krick a 180-day jail sentence and a $1,000 fine but deferred the imposition pending the successful completion of the community  control program. 
Samantha J. Lacy, 19, Van Wert, was released from jail and placed on a unsecured personal surety bond on a violation of her treatment in lieu program.
Attempts are being made to get Lacy admitted to an inpatient treatment center for her to deal with her substance abuse issues.
