The Delphos Catholic Ladies of Columbia Council 40 met recently with a Mass for living and deceased members led by the Rev. Mel Verhoff at St. John’s Chapel. Following the Mass, the business meeting was held at the K of C hall, with President Catherine Hammons opening with prayer for the 12 members in attendance. The trustees led the group in the Litany of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Barb Bockey made a motion to send Sharon Calvelage a sympathy card on the death of her daughter. Carol Ricker seconded and the motion was passed. Lois Blankemeyer reported that in the previous months she had sent out 14 sympathy and get-well cards to members and their families. Mary Lou Beckman is collecting money for the Bakeless Bake Sale. The card party was a success with $200 donated to the Delphos Municipal Swimming Pool for maintenance and repairs. Irma Hilver motioned to give $200 to a needy Delphos family. Ruth Calvelage seconded and the motion was passed. Hilvers also motioned to donate $50 to D.A.R.E. of Allen County. Beckman seconded the motion and it was passed. Carol Ricker motioned to give $100 to the Interfaith Thrift Shop Food Pantry to restock shelves. It was seconded by Leona Berelsman and passed. The Attendance Award went to Hammons; and the 50-50 winners were La Donna Klima, Ruth Calvelage and Beckman. The next meeting will be held on June 5 with a carry-in dinner at 6 p.m. Members are asked to bring a dish to share. Chairladies are Agnes Miller and Alice Heidenescher.
