The following individuals appeared Wednesday before Judge Charles Steele in Van Wert County Common Pleas Court:
Arraignment
Rebecca Smith, 23, Lima, was arraigned on a charge of complicity to aggravated assault. This case is in connection with the aggravated assault case on Caleb Mech (see below), who is charged for stabbing his brother.  
Smith entered a not guilty plea and had her case set for pretrial on Wednesday. Her bond was set at $1,000 with 10-percent cash plus a $5,000 surety bond.
Change of plea
Caleb Mech, 26, Van Wert, changed his plea to guilty to aggravated assault, a felony of the fourth degree. 
The court ordered a pre-sentence investigation and set the matter for sentencing on Sept. 19. 
His bond was continued and he remains in jail.
Allan Pierce, 45, Van Wert, changed his plea to guilty on a charge of failure to register as a sex offender, a felony of the fourth degree and also to four counts of violation of a protection order, each a felony of the fifth degree. 
The court ordered a pre-sentence investigation and set the matter for sentencing on Sept 19.
He remains in jail serving a sentence from Municipal Court in an unrelated case.
