The following individuals appeared Wednesday before Judge Charles Steele in Van Wert County Common Pleas Court:
Arraignment
Rebecca Smith, 23, Lima, was arraigned on a charge of complicity to aggravated assault. This case is in connection with the aggravated assault case on Caleb Mech (see below), who is charged for stabbing his brother.  
Smith entered a not guilty plea and had her case set for pretrial on Wednesday. Her bond was set at $1,000 with 10-percent cash plus a $5,000 surety bond.
Change of plea
Caleb Mech, 26, Van Wert, changed his plea to guilty to aggravated assault, a felony of the fourth degree. 
The court ordered a pre-sentence investigation and set the matter for sentencing on Sept. 19. 
His bond was continued and he remains in jail.
Allan Pierce, 45, Van Wert, changed his plea to guilty on a charge of failure to register as a sex offender, a felony of the fourth degree and also to four counts of violation of a protection order, each a felony of the fifth degree. 
The court ordered a pre-sentence investigation and set the matter for sentencing on Sept 19.
He remains in jail serving a sentence from Municipal Court in an unrelated case.
Sentencings
Lonnie Gentry, 65, Ohio City, was in court for sentencing on a charge of  domestic violence, a felony of the fourth degree.  
The matter was continued until a later date to allow for more information to be provided to the court.
Steven Parsons, 33, Van Wert, was sentenced for theft and forgery, both charges are felonies of the fifth degree. He was given three years community control, 30 days jail, 200 hours community service, substance abuse assessment and treatment, one year intensive probation and ordered to pay restitution of $119, partial attorney fees and court costs. 
His 1999 Jeep that was used in the offenses was ordered forfeited to the State of Ohio. 
A nine-month prison term was deferred pending completion of community control.
Jeffrey Garwood, 49, Van Wert, was sentenced for two counts of drug trafficking, each a felony of the fourth degree. He was given two years community control for each count, concurrent, 30 days jail, 200 hours community service, substance abuse assessment and treatment, two years intensive probation, driver’s license suspended six months, and court costs. A nine-months prison sentence was deferred pending completion of community control.
Corey Robinson, 33, Van Wert, was sentenced for attempted having weapons under disability, a felony of the fourth degree. 
He was given three years community control, six months in jail with work release, credit for nine days served, an additional 30 days jail, 200 hours community service, substance abuse assessment and treatment, ordered to have no contact with Jason Mitchell, two years intensive probation. He will also pay partial attorney fees and court costs. An 18-month prison term was deferred pending completion of community control.
Tina Means, 44, Cincinnati, was sentenced for attempted  unauthorized use of a credit card, a misdemeanor of the first degree.
He was sentenced to one year community control, 30 days jail, 200 hours community service, to pay restitution of $26, court costs and partial attorney fees. A 180-days jail term and $1,000 fine were deferred pending completion of community control.
