The following individuals appeared Wednesday before Judge Charles Steele in Van Wert County Court Of Common Pleas:
Arraignment
Klarisa Mendoza, 24, Van Wert, was arraigned for a charge of possession of heroin, a felony of the fifth degree. 
She entered a plea of not guilty and was set for a pretrial hearing on Aug. 22.  Her bond was set at $10,000 cash.
Change Of Plea
Bobbie Spyres, 19, Ohio City, pled guilty to an amended charge of attempted forgery, a misdemeanor of the first degree.
Her case was continued for sentencing Sept. 26.
Sentencings:
Orman Goings II, 26, Paulding, was sentenced for operating a vehicle while under the influence, a felony of the fourth degree. He was sentenced to 3 years community control, up to 6 months in WORTH Center, 30 days jail, 200 hours community service, substance abuse assessment and treatment, 2 years intensive probation, driver’s license suspended for 3 years, fined $1,350 and ordered to pay partial attorney fees and court costs. Twenty-four months prison was deferred pending completion of community control.
Ricky Harter, 55, Spencerville, was sentenced for theft, a misdemeanor of the first degree and given one year community control, 60 days jail concurrent with his Allen County sentence currently being served, 200 hours community service, pay partial attorney fees and court costs. A jail sentence of 180 days and $1,000 fine are deferred.
Samuel Whisman, 20, Van Wert, was sentenced for trafficking in drugs, a felony of the fifth degree. He received 3 years community control, 30 days jail, credit for 23 served, work release, additional 30 days jail, 200 hours community service, substance abuse assessment and treatment, 2 years intensive probation, Driver’s license suspended 6 months, court costs, 9 months prison deferred.
Jerad Caldwell, 25, Van Wert, was sentenced for trafficking in drugs, felony of the fifth degree. He received 3 years community control, 6 months WORTH Center, additional 30 days in jail, 200 hours community service, substance abuse assessment and treatment, 2 years intensive probation, driver’s license suspended 6 months, pay partial attorney fees and court costs and 12-months prison deferred.
