Virginia C. Rode, 84, of Delphos and formerly of Louisville, Ky., died at 3:30 p.m. Monday at Vancrest Healthcare Center.
She was born Jan. 31, 1928, in Delphos to Edward and Catherine (Burger) Becker, who preceded her in death.
She was married to Doyt Cox, who died in 1996. On Dec. 27, 2001, she then married Gerald Rode, who survives in Delphos.
Other survivors include a son, Doyt “Edward” (Patricia) Cox of Painesville; two daughters, Mary Jane (Joe) Previte of Cleveland and Theresa (Larry) Wherthey of Louisville; a sister, Margaret Koester of Delphos; a sister-in-law, Lucille “Freckles” Becker of Delphos; and six grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Nancy Previte Prine; and brother, William Becker.
Mrs. Rode was a homemaker and member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and former-member of St. Albert the Great Catholic Church; St. Joseph Sewing Society, where she loved making quilts for foster children at a children’s home; and Al’s Aces Senior Citizens Group. She was a seamstress, enjoyed knitting, playing golf and was a proud holder of a hole-in-one.
Mass of Christian Burial begins at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, the Rev. Chris Bonsack officiating. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery.
Friends may call from 3-8 p.m. Friday at Harter and Schier Funeral Home, where a parish wake starts at 7:30 p.m.
