MIDDLE POINT — A rural Delphos woman is in critical condition in the Mercy St. Vincent Hospital Burn Unit in Toledo after a fire at her residence late Sunday night.
Official details are few, but Dorothy Liles of 21842 Gerdeman Road was burned in the fire that severely damaged the house trailer where she and her husband lived.
The cause of the blaze is yet unknown and is under investigation by the Ohio State Fire Marshal’s Office. On his Facebook profile, Dave Liles wrote that his trailer “blew up” and that he was unhurt but his wife was badly injured. He also noted that everything in the trailer was a total loss.
The original 911 call went to Putnam County at approximately 11 p.m. Sunday but was quickly transferred to the Delphos Fire Department who responded to the scene. The fire was in the territory covered by the Middle Point Fire Department who also responded, as did a tanker from Van Wert.
The house trailer, which is southeast of Middle Point, was extensively damaged by the fire and smoke. Further information has not yet been released.
