At approximately 1:17 a.m. Sunday, officers were dispatched to the 900 block of South Bredeick Street, where it was reported that a male was trying to enter a residence. Upon officers’ arrival, a male matching the description was located. The officer identified the suspect as 18-year-old Marcus Backus of Lima, noticed a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from Backus and began investigating why Backus was in the area.

At 12:06 a.m. Sunday, a Delphos police officer observed the driver of a vehicle commit a traffic offense. The officer initiated a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, 25-year-old Nathan Jones of Delphos. During the investigation, officers found probable cause to arrest Jones for operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated. Jones was issued a citation for the OVI and will appear in Lima Municipal Court on the charge.

At approximately 1:30 p.m. Thursday, 18-year-old Kaitlin Russell of Delphos was taken into custody on a warrant out of Allen County Juvenile Court. She was later turned over to deputies from the Allen County Sheriff’s Office.

A sewer cap damaged a vehicle Tuesday in Delphos.

According to police reports, Teresa Sensibaugh, 53, of Delphos, was traveling eastbound on East Second Street at the North Pierce Street intersection at 7:55 p.m. when her vehicle went over the sewer cap, it flipped and struck the driver’s side undercarriage of her vehicle causing the vehicle to spin out and come to a stop facing westbound in the opposite lane.

No one was injured and no citations were given.

At 10 a.m. Tuesday, officers were called to the 1200 block of South Bredeick Street to speak with the victim of a burglary at his residence. Officers met with the victim and found that someone had entered his residence and took a small amount of cash. The police department has a possible suspect and at this time, the burglary is under investigation by the Detective Bureau.
