Mr. and Mrs. Howard Etgen

Mr. and Mrs. Howard “Tom” Etgen of Delphos will celebrate 50 years of marriage  on Aug. 26. 

A family dinner will be held on Aug. 28. 

Etgen and the former April Mewhorter were married on August 26, 1961, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Delphos by the Reverend John Quenneville. 

They are the parents of three sons, Thomas (Beverley) Etgen and Douglas (Michele) Etgen of Columbus and Jeffrey (Lisa) Etgen of Wapakoneta; and one daughter, Jill (Randy) Martin of Delphos. They also have 11 grandchildren.

Etgen is retired from the Lima Local Union #776 Plumbers and Pipefitters and his wife is a homemaker.

Thomas and Jennifer Rekart of Delphos announce the engagement of their daughter, Gina Kathleen, to Michael John Knott, son of Timothy and Suzanne Knott of Bluffton,

The couple will exchange vows on Aug. 6 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.

The bride-elect is a graduate of St. John’s High School and Bowling Green State University, with a bachelor’s in applied health science, and recently graduated from the University of Dayton with a doctorate in physical therapy.

Her fiance graduated from Columbus Grove High School and The Ohio State University. He is a mathematics teacher at Leipsic High School.

 
Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Smith

Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Smith of Delphos celebrated 70 years of marriage on July 30.

Lloyd and the former Elizabeth Sochor were united in marriage on July 30, 1941 at St. Mary’s Church in Van Wert, the Rev. R.E. Gallagher officiating.

To celebrate, a lunch with their children and immediate family will be followed by a private reception at Vancrest. 

They are the parents of a son, Don (Sally) Smith of Van Wert; and two daughters, Susan (John) Ebey of Santa Monica, Calif., and Barbara (Kim) Bradshaw of Lima. They also have two grandchildren.

Mr. Smith is retired from Delphos City Schools. His wife is retired from Commercial Bank, Delphos. 

The Smiths would appreciate receiving cards from well-wishers.

 
Mr. and Mrs. Joe Mueller

Mr. and Mrs. Joe Mueller of Delphos will observe 50 years of marriage on Aug. 19.

Joe and the former Diane Odenweller were married on Aug. 19, 1961, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, the Rev. Don Mueller officiating. He will also perform their Anniversary Mass.

A family dinner at Dick’s Steak House is planned.

They are the parents of Brent (Jean) Mueller of Middle Point and Elise (Nick) Clark and Leah (Nick) Gordon of Delphos. Their grandchildren include Elliot, Anna and Marie Mueller; Alex and Eric Clark; Bailey, Cole and Caitlin Gordon; and grandson Kyle Clark is deceased.

Joe retired from Ford Motor Co., Lima Engine Plant. Diane is a retired registered nurse. She worked at Delphos Memorial Home.

 

 
Mr. and Mrs. Christopher Nichols

Abby Megan Trenkamp and Christopher Adam Nichols were united in marriage on May 28 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, the Reverend Melvin Verhoff officiating.

The bride’s parents are Carl and Chris Trenkamp of Fort Jennings. The groom’s parents are Mike and Doris Nichols of Fort Jennings.

Nuptial music was provided by vocalists Roger Rex, Jerry Zimmerman, Kristen Lee and Lorri Menke; and organist Dee Fisher. 

Matron of honor was Amanda Mosely of Columbus, sister of bride; and maid of honor was Jess Warnecke of Fort Jennings, friend of couple. 

Bridesmaids were Lyn Bornman of Columbus, sister of groom; Kari Menke of Fort Jennings, friend of couple; Jess Kemper of Ottoville, friend of couple; Alyssa Boberg of Delphos, cousin of bride; and Nikki Birkemeier of Kalida, friend of couple.

Flower girls were Natalie and Katelyn Nichols of Columbus, nieces of the groom; and ring bearers were Tyler Nichols, nephew of groom; and Thomas Bornman, godson of bride.

Best men were Andy and Matt Nichols of Columbus, brothers of groom.

Groomsmen were Dan Bornman of Columbus, brother-in-law of groom; Joe Nichols and Steve Nichols of Columbus, brothers of groom; Dean Hamel of Nashville, Tenn., cousin of groom; Kurt Menke of Fort Jennings, cousin of bride; and Cory Trenkamp of Fort Jennings, brother of bride. 

The bride’s grandparents are Francis and Jeanette Fischer of Delphos and Augie and Jackie Trenkamp of Fort Jennings. 

The groom’s grandparents are the late Harold and Jean Hamel and Joanne Nichols and the late Milton Nichols. 

A reception was held at the Fort Jennings American Legion following the ceremony. 

Following a wedding trip to Maui, Hawaii, the couple reside in Fort Jennings
