FINDLAY – Artist and 1995 St. John’s High School graduate Holly (Vaske) Romano and fellow artists Lisa Ruggiero-Wawrzyniak and Jane Vanden Eynden will open a visual arts exhibition entitled “Three Women of Photography” at the Findlay Art League Gallery this July. The show features both figurative and landscape photography by the artists and runs July 6-23.

Vaske-Romano has a BFA from Bowling Green State University and worked as a graphic designer for 16 years before switching back to studio art and photography. Her award-winning artwork has been selected for juried shows and is exhibited nationally.

“I consider myself an observation artist, directing attention to details in life that might otherwise go unnoticed if we are not paying close enough attention,” Romano said when describing her art practice.

This is reflected in Romano’s series titled Isolated Connections which is on display in the show. Here she shows unscripted snapshots of day-to-day life with her children, particularly during the isolation of the pandemic.

“Having consistent, non-stop time with them for the past year, I am able to notice the in-between moments of their day-to-day activities — how they intentionally spent their downtime, how they react to home-schooling and seclusion, and how they relate within the family and the physical elements in their environment,” she added.

“Three Women of Photography” will open to the public on July 6. The opening reception will be held from 6-8 p.m. on July 9 at the Findlay Art League Gallery, 117 W. Crawford Street, Findlay. Gallery hours are noon to 5:30 p.m.. Tuesday through Friday and noon to 4 p.m. on Saturdays.
