DELPHOS — On Dec. 23, officers responded to a business on Elida
Avenue after receiving a complaint of an employee making threats.
Officers arrived and spoke with several employees who stated that a male
co-worker became upset and made threats to harm multiple people. The
owner of the business requested that the incident be handled internally
prior to possibly filing charges.
On Dec. 24, officers were
contacted about a female who was assaulted by her husband whom she is
separated from. Officers met with the female a short time later and
gathered details of the assault. The female told officers that the
assault occurred in Delphos and that shortly thereafter she dropped the
male off in Lima. The report was forwarded to the Van Wert County
Prosecutor’s Office where charges were filed against the male, 49 year
old Charles Edwards, for Domestic Violence.
On Dec. 24, a male
called the police department to report that his soon to be ex-wife had
run into the porch, at his residence, after the two had an argument over
child custody.
On Dec. 25, officers took a report from residents
in the 1800 block of North Main Street. The original complaint came from
a juvenile female in which she reported that she was assaulted by her
father. After speaking with all parties, it was determined that the
female had been disobeying and had been punished.
On Dec. 30,
officers were dispatched to the 700 block of West Sixth Street for a
possible domestic violence incident. Officers arrived and spoke with a
female who had a minor injury. The female stated that she and her
boyfriend were wrestling when the injury occurred. The female told
officers that she would be gathering items to leave the residence. She
was advised by officers to meet at the police department for further
details of the incident. After completing the investigation, it was
determined that the male, 37-year-old Donald Wallen Jr. of Delphos, was
the primary physical aggressor and would be charged with domestic
violence. A warrant was issued and shortly thereafter Wallen did turn
himself in. Wallen will be facing charges of domestic violence.
On
Dec. 31, officers were sent to the 500 block of East Fourth Street to
investigate a possible domestic violence incident. Upon arrival officers
met with the father of two males that had been in an altercation. He
stated that the two began wrestling around at which time he broke them
up. One of the males left in his vehicle prior to officers arrival. The
other male stated that he did not wish to pursue any charges.
On
Dec. 31, officers took a report from a male in the 600 block of West
Clime Street. The male told officers that a debit card belonging to his
wife was removed from his residence. The male stated that he contacted
the bank and a small amount of money had already been withdrawn from the
account. The incident remains under investigation.
On Dec. 31,
officers responded to a residence in the 400 block of East Cleveland
Street for a possible breaking and entering. Upon speaking with the
resident, she stated that nothing was missing from the residence but
that items in the residence were tampered with.
On Jan. 1,
officers were dispatched to the 900 block of South Bredeick Street for
an intoxicated male. Upon arrival officers met with the male and his
live-in girlfriend. Officers found that the male had struck the female
after threatening to do so. Officers took the male, 37-year-old Matthew
Speakman of Delphos, into custody and transported him to the Van Wert
County Jail. Speakman will face the charge of domestic violence.
On
Jan. 2, an officer on patrol conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle
after observing an equipment violation. During the traffic stop officers
found probable cause to arrest the driver, Genaro Hernandez Lopez of
Delphos, for operating the vehicle while intoxicated. Lopez was issued a
citation for OVI and no operator’s license.
On Jan. 2, an officer
on patrol conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle after observing the
driver commit a traffic offense. During the traffic stop officers found
probable cause to arrest the driver, Alfonzo Diaz of Delphos, for
operating the vehicle while intoxicated. Diaz was issued a citation for
OVI as well as no operator’s license.
On Jan. 2, officers spoke
with a male in the 600 block of West Jefferson Street in reference to a
threat he had received from another male. Officers gathered the details
of the threat and spoke with the other male. He denied making any
threats, but was advised to cease all contact with the complainant.
On
Monday, officers took a report from a male at a business in the 900 of
Spencerville Road. The male told officers that his vehicle had been
keyed. He stated that the damage may have been done by an ex employee.
On
Tuesday, an officer on patrol conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle
after observing the driver commit a traffic offense. During the traffic
stop officers found that the driver, Neibi Tracey Marie Garlock of Fort
Jennings, was operating the vehicle on a suspended drivers license.
Garlock was issued a citation for speeding and driving on a suspended
driver’s license.
On Tuesday, officers were dispatched to
investigate a suspicious vehicle in the 800 block of Skinner Street.
Officers located the vehicle running with the driver’s door open.
Officers located the owner of the vehicle, 29-year-old Dru James Leach
of Delphos, visiting a resident in the area. Leach appeared to be highly
intoxicated, but denied driving the vehicle to that location. Officers
secured the vehicle and advised Leach he could not drive it. Leach
became agitated and refused advice to cease being disorderly. Leach was
issued a summons to Van Wert Municipal Court for persistent disorderly
conduct.
On 1-6-2021 officers were sent to a business on Gressel
Drive in reference to a criminal damaging complaint. Officers met with
the complainant who showed officers damage done to his vehicle. Officers
observed that someone had scratched a large design into the hood of his
vehicle. The complainant stated that he didn’t know who would want to
damage his property. The incident remains under investigation.
On
1-7-2021 an officer on patrol conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle
after observing the driver commit a traffic offense. During the traffic
stop officers found that the driver, 34-year-old Orman Goings II of
Paulding, for operating the vehicle on a suspended driver’s license.
Goings will appear in Lima Municipal Court to face the charge ofvdriving
under suspension.
On 1-7-2020 officers took a report from a male
at the Delphos Police Department. The male told officers that he had
received a debit card in the mail that he didn’t request. The male found
that the card was for unemployment benefits which he did not apply for.
This has been an on-going scam attempt and anyone receiving a debit
card unsolicited should not try to activate it.
