VAN WERT — The following individuals appeared before Judge Martin Burchfield in Van Wert County Common Pleas Court:

Sept. 24

Bond/TIL violation

Theresa Parks, 40, Van Wert, admitted to violating her bond and her treatment in lieu program by failing to complete treatment and failing to report to probation. Bond set at $10,000 cash or commercial surety and set sentencing for Oct. 28.

Sept. 25

Arraignment

Ashley McCarthy, 37, Van Wert, entered a not guilty plea to four counts of possession of various drugs, each a felony of the fifth degree. She was released on a surety bond with pretrial set for Oct. 14.

Sentencing

Chad Diltz, 44, Van Wert, sentenced for possession of heroin, a felony 5, following failure of his treatment in lieu program. Sentenced to: 180 days jail, credit for 52 days served. Will consider drug treatment after total of 90 days served. Ordered to pay costs and partial appointed counsel fees.

Monday

Change of plea/sentencing

Alcides Ordonez-Cruz, 27, Kenosha, Wisconsin, changed his plea to guilty to gross sexual imposition, a felony 3; and endangering children, a felony 3. The defendant then waived the pre-sentence investigation and requested immediate sentencing. He was then sentenced to 60 months prison on GSI, with credit for 187 days served, and 12 months prison on endangering children with zero jail credit, consecutive. He must also register as a Tier 2 sex offender (register every 180 days for 25 years). He was also ordered to pay court costs

Change of plea

Ronald Schumm, 23, Willshire, changed his plea to guilty to aggravated vehicular homicide, a felony 3. The court ordered a pre-sentence investigation and set sentencing for Nov. 17.

Arraignment

James Robert Jewell, 38, Van Wert, entered a not guilty plea to aggravated possession of drugs, a felony 5. He was released on a surety bond with pretrial set for Oct. 14.

Wednesday

Probation violation

Robert Stegaman, 46, Van Wert, admitted violating his probation by consuming alcohol and failing to report contact with law enforcement. Sentenced to: one year community control from today, two days jail beginning Oct. 17, additional 30 days jail at later date, 200 hours community control, no alcohol or drugs without prescription and one year intensive probation.

Sentencing

Kelly Alvarez Jr. 25, Van Wert, felonious assault, a felony 2. Sentenced to: 4-6 years prison, credit for 173 days served and ordered to pay court costs.

Change of plea

Jordan Ladd, 28, Delphos, changed her plea to guilty to an amended charge of domestic violence, a misdemeanor 1. Sentencing set for Oct. 30.

Probation violation hearing

Taylor Vannett, 21, Van Wert, appeared for a hearing on his probation violation for being dismissed from the WORTH Center. After full hearing, he was found to have violated his probation and was sentenced to 36 months in prison with credit for 157 days served and was ordered to pay court costs.
