DELPHOS — The Toast to the City has become a huge part of Delphos Canal Days. In its 13th year of existence, this open-to-the-public event is scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 19, has grown in leaps and bounds. With the new location Canal Days can accommodate the large crowd.

Delphos, being fortunate to have the famous Route 66 running through downtown, is a great place to have a “Get Your Kicks on Route 66” event. Old cars will line-up on State Route 66 as guests register to enter The Toast.

Phil Austin, on the air each weekday from 3-7 p.m. on Fun 107.1, will emcee the event and Mayor Josh Gillespie and a representative from the Canal Commission will update attendees on what’s happening in Delphos.

Entertainment for the evening is Matt Venhaus, a local entertainer. Born and raised in the outskirts of Dallas, Texas, Venhaus is now an Ohio country artist. Blending his southern rock and “prime” country influences, he creates his own unique yet comfortably familiar sound that is inviting to country and rock fans alike.

The cost for this kick-off to Canal Days is $40 for and individual or $350 for a table of 8.

Hors d’oeuvres will be offered by the area’s best local restaurants and Heidelberg Distributing will again supply us with a great selection of wine. Beer will be available for those non-wine drinkers.

Reservations for The Toast can be made at the Delphos Area Chamber of Commerce or calling 419-695-1771. You may also email Diane at canaldays@delphoschamber.com.
