FORT JENNINGS — Fort Jennings School Board members learn an additional 14 trees will planted on the Fort Jennings Local Schools campus, bring the total to nearly 75 different species and more than 100 trees in the school’s arboretum.

“Jeff Jostpille has gone above and beyond on carrying out this mission for us,” Superintendent Nick Langhals told the board on Thursday.

The school board approved Connor Wallenhorst was approved as the new boys elementary basketball coach.

Donations totaling more than $8,000 were approved the Musketeer Athletic Boosters. The club gave $3,085 for a new mascot head and $5,000 for a new sound system in the gymnasium.

Seven local Boy Scouts attended the meeting for their Communication Badge. They included, Ian Stechschulte, Landon Calvelage, Braden Knippen, Isaac Heitman, Heath McNeal, Kyle Britton and Nathan Calvelage.

In the High School Report: the fall music concert if Monday at 7 p.m.; the high school band trip is from Nov. 8 and 9 to Chicago; and eighth-graders will visit Vantage on Nov. 12.

In the Elementary Report, Principal Matthew Dube related that the Fort Jennings firefighters visited school to the delight of the elementary students.

“They do a fantastic job going to each classroom and showing the students the trucks along with safety talks,” Dube said.

In other business, the board:

• Approved the finalized itinerary for the senior class trip to Washington, D.C., April 16-19;

• Congratulated Hailey Nowacek and students for a successful and entertaining class play “Just Another Snow Day:”

• Approved a dock day for Stacey Vaske; and

• Approved the use of the old gymnasium by Tannis’ School of Dance for Dec. 7 and 9.
