DELPHOS — On Dec. 21, officers investigated a theft incident in the 900 block of North State Street. Officers spoke with a female and found that her cell phone was taken by a male juvenile. Officers spoke with the juvenile and his mother and received an admission of the theft. The juvenile will appear in juvenile court on the charge of theft.

On Dec. 21, officers spoke with a female in the 100 block of East Seventh Street in reference to a theft. The female told officers that an envelope, which contained money, was tampered with in her mailbox and the money was taken. The female believed that her husband, whom she has a protection order against, took it. The incident remains under investigation.

On Dec. 22, during a traffic stop, officers were made aware of an active warrant out of Allen County for 21-year-old Jacob Shafer of Delphos. Shafer was taken into custody on the warrant and turned over to a deputy from the Allen County Sheriff’s Office.

On Dec. 22, a female came to the police department to report that her two vehicles had been entered by an unknown subject. The female told officers that an undetermined amount of cash was missing from one of the vehicles.

On Dec. 25, officers spoke with a female in the 300 block of Eastwood Avenue in reference to a theft complaint. The female told officers that Christmas decorations were missing from her yard.

On Dec. 26, officers were dispatched to the 100 block of North Jefferson Street to investigate a disturbance. Officers arrived and located a male inside his residence who appeared agitated and had caused damage. The male voluntarily agreed to go to the hospital for a mental evaluation. He was then transported to the hospital by Delphos Fire and Rescue.

On Dec. 28, officers spoke with employees at a pharmacy on Elida Avenue after they received requests for prescriptions to be filled. The employees found the prescription request to be fraudulent as they were called in by an individual who claimed to be from a doctor’s office but was not.

On Dec. 28, officers met with a female at the police department who reported a theft from her bank account. The female told officers that she found withdrawals on her bank statements that she did not authorize. The female gave officers the name of a suspect who had been living with her at the time of the withdrawals. The incident is being investigated by the Detective Bureau.

On Dec. 29, officers received a complaint of a stolen motor vehicle from South Bredeick Street. The vehicle was located a short time later north of the city off St. Rt. 66. The vehicle was towed to the police department and processed by Detectives.

On Sunday, a female came to the police department to report a domestic violence incident. The female told officers that she was assaulted by her husband after the two had an argument. Officers spoke with the male, 36-year-old Shawn Huffman of Delphos, and found probable cause to arrest him for domestic violence. He will appear in Van Wert Municipal Court to face the charge.

On Sunday, officers were dispatched to a residence in the 600 block of Dewey Street to investigate a burglary. Officers spoke with the homeowner, who stated that he found his back door pried open and items missing from inside the residence. Detectives were called to the residence for evidence processing.

On Monday, officers responded to a residence in the 600 block of East Sixth Street after receiving a theft complaint. Officers spoke with a female at the residence, who stated that a male known to her left her residence with items that belonged to her. The incident remains under investigation.
