DELPHOS — On Dec. 23, a female came to the Delphos Police Department to report a scam. The female told officers that she had an item for sale on-line and had received correspondence from a person stating that they wanted to purchase the item. The person sent the seller a check for the item, but it was determined that the check was fraudulent. The item was not sent to the person facilitating the scam.

On Dec. 23, officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle. During the traffic stop, officers found the driver, 45-year-old Jason Monroe of Delphos, to be in possession of drug paraphernalia. Monroe was taken into custody and transported to the Van Wert County Jail.

On Dec. 24, officers were alerted to a female that was threatening to harm herself. Officers responded to the residence and located the female. It was determined that the female would need to be transported to the hospital for an evaluation and was done so by Delphos Fire and Rescue.

On Dec. 25, officers were dispatched to the 100 block of West Clime Street in reference to a domestic dispute. Upon arrival, officers met with a female and her nephew, both of whom were involved in the altercation. After speaking with each of them, it was determined that no charges would be pursued.

On Dec. 26, officers met with the owner of a business on North Main Street in regards to a criminal mischief complaint. Officers found that someone had spray painted graffiti on the side of the building. The incident remains under investigation.

On Dec. 27, officers became aware of an active warrant out of Franklin County for 47-year-old Michael Dean Ball of Delphos. Officers located Ball a short time later and took him into custody. Ball was transported to the Allen County Jail to await extradition to Franklin County.

On Dec. 27, officers took a report from a male in the 100 block of North Main Street. The male told officers that a bicycle was stolen from the apartment building in which he resides. The incident remains under investigation.

On Sunday, officers were sent to the 700 block of Spencerville Road to investigate a possible domestic violence incident. Officers arrived and spoke with a male and female at the residence. The female advised officers that her husband came home intoxicated and an altercation ensued. No charges were pursued and the male was picked up by a family member to stay elsewhere for the night.

On Sunday, officers spoke with an employee at a business on East Fifth Street. The employee advised officers of a customer in the store who had been told not to return due to past inappropriate behavior. Officers spoke with the male and advised him to leave the business and not return.

On Monday, officers met with a female at the police department who wished to file a report. The female told officers that she was walking out of a business on West Fifth Street. She stated that her step-sister attempted to hit her with a vehicle as she was walking to her own vehicle. At this time the incident is being investigated by the Detective Bureau.

On Tuesday, an officer on patrol conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle after observing the driver commit a traffic offense. During the investigation of the traffic offense, officers found probable cause to arrest the driver, Rocael Chocoj Gonzalez of Delphos, for operating the vehicle while impaired. Gonzalez will appear in Lima Municipal Court to face the charge of OVI, no drivers license and right of way violation.
