DELPHOS — On June 26, a male came to the police department to report that someone had fraudulently changed his mailing address without his knowledge.

On June 26, a male contacted the police department to file a theft report. The male told officers that a laptop was stolen out of his car while the car was parked near Stadium Park.

On June 28, a male came to the Delphos Police Department to report a menacing incident. The male told officers that his neighbor threatened to assault him.

On June 28, officers met with a male at the police department who wished to report a domestic violence. The male told officers that he observed bruising on his son’s face after picking him up from his mothers residence. The incident remains under investigation.

On June 29, an officer on patrol conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle after observing it being driven by a male who had a suspended license. Officers made contact with the male, 35-year-old Andrew Stocklin of Cloverdale. Stocklin was issued a citation for driving under a license forfeiture suspension. A passenger in the vehicle, 40-year-old Jeremy Whitaker of Delphos, was found to be in possession of drug abuse instruments. Whitaker was issued a summons to appear in Lima Municipal Court to face the charge.

On July 1, officers were dispatched to the 200 block of West Fifth Street in reference to a criminal damaging complaint. Officers spoke with the complainant and found that someone had thrown an unknown substance on the hood of her vehicle.

On July 2, officers were sent to the 600 block of North Main Street to investigate a possible burglary incident. Officers arrived and met with the homeowner, who showed officers damage that was done inside his home while he was gone. There was no forced entry and nothing was taken from the residence.

On July 2, officers responded to a business in the 900 block of East Fifth Street for a male on the property. Officers arrived and found the male, 77-year-old Donald Schlagbaum, exiting the business. Schlagbaum had been previously issued a criminal trespass order to remain off of the premises due to harassing the employees. Schlagbaum was issued a summons to appear in Lima Municipal Court for criminal trespassing as well as a summons to appear for obstructing official business as Schlagbaum had hid his vehicle behind another business and provided officers with a fake name.

On July 2, officers received a complaint of a motorcycle that was being driven erratically on East Second Street. Officers soon located the motorcyclist on Franklin Street attempting to pick the motorcycle up. Officers made contact with the male, 57-year-old Christopher Durkee. After investigating the incident, officers found probable cause to arrest Durkee for operating a vehicle while impaired. Durkee will appear in Lima Municipal Court to face the charge of OVI.

On July 3, officers were dispatched to the 600 block of South Main Street after receiving a burglary complaint. Officers arrived and met with the resident, who stated that while she was away, someone had entered the residence and stole multiple items. The incident remains under investigation.

On July 3, an officer on patrol conducted a traffic stop on the driver of a vehicle whom the officer had prior knowledge of being suspended. Officers made contact with the male, 46-year-old Jason Monroe of Delphos. During the traffic stop, officers found Monroe to be in possession of drug paraphernalia and suspected drugs. Monroe was issued a citation for driving under suspension and a summons to appear in Lima Municipal Court for the drug paraphernalia. Additional charges are pending following the testing of the suspected drugs.

On July 4, an officer on patrol conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle after observing the vehicle being operated with a registration violation. Officers identified the driver as 38-year-old Johnathan Nieto of Delphos and found that he was operating the vehicle on a suspended driver’s license. Nieto was issued a citation and will appear in Van Wert Municipal Court to face the charge.

On July 4, officers were sent to the 200 block of Monroe Street for a domestic dispute. Upon arrival, officers met with a male and a female at the residence. After speaking with each, it was determined that the two would separate for the evening. No charges to be filed.

On July 4, officers observed a female whom they knew to have an active warrant issued out of the Lima Police Department. Officers took the female, 49-year-old Ann Foust of Delphos, into custody and transported her to the Allen County Jail.

On Sunday, an officer on patrol conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle after observing the driver commit a traffic offense. During the investigation of the stop, officers found probable cause to arrest the driver, 22-year-old Gage Irwin of Columbus Grove, for operating the vehicle while impaired. Irwin will appear in Lima Municipal Court to face the charge of OVI.

On Tuesday, an officer on patrol conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle after observing the driver commit a traffic offense. Officers made contact with the driver and his female passenger. During the traffic stop, K-9 Kratos made a positive indication for the presence of illegal substances in the vehicle. After a subsequent search of the vehicle, officers located multiple items of drug paraphernalia and suspected drugs. The driver, 56-year-old James Dye of Lima, was taken into custody and transported to the Allen County Jail for possession of drug paraphernalia and suspected aggravated possession of a controlled substance. The female passenger, 36-year-old Katharine Thompson, also of Lima, was taken into custody on an active warrant for contempt of court. Both Dye and Thompson were transported to the Allen County Jail.
