VAN WERT — The following individuals appeared before Judge Martin Burchfield in Van Wert County Common Pleas Court:

Oct. 30

Jury trial

Thomas Rupert, 65, Van Wert, was found guilty on two counts of gross sexual Imposition, each a felony 3, by a jury after a three-day trial. The court ordered a pre-sentence investigation and set sentencing for Dec. 18.

Tuesday

Change of plea

Stephen Davies, 39, Van Wert, changed his plea to guilty to possession of cocaine, a felony 5; and assault, a misdemeanor 1. The court ordered a pre-sentence investigation and set sentencing for Dec. 18.

Wednesday

Arraignment

Curtis Coleman, 48, Lorain, entered a plea of not guilty to aggravated trafficking drugs, a felony 5; aggravated possession drugs, a felony 3; weapons under disability, a felony 3; aggravated trafficking drugs, a felony 4; and aggravated trafficking drugs, a felony 4. He was released on a surety bond with pretrial set for Nov. 14.

Changes of pleas

Sarah Stephenson, 44, Ft. Wayne, changed her plea to guilty to aggravated possession of drugs, a felony 5. She then requested and was granted Intervention in Lieu of Conviction and her case was stayed pending completion of the treatment program.

Sentencings

Valerie Parent, 38, Delphos, tampering with records, a felony 3; Medicaid eligibility fraud, a misdemeanor 1. Sentence: three years community control, one year intensive probation, 30 days jail at later date, 50 hours community service, substance abuse and mental health assessment and treatment and was ordered to pay restitution of $3,759 to Van Wert County Job and Family food program, partial appointed counsel fees and costs.

Caleb Mendez, 23, Decatur, Indiana, two counts aggravated trafficking drugs, a felony 3; and trafficking Fentanyl related substance, a felony 4. Sentence: on each of the trafficking drugs charge —sentenced to 24 months prison; on the fentanyl charge, 12 months prison, all concurrent, credit for 22 days served. He was also ordered to pay court costs.

Robert Ericson, 57, Van Wert, Domestic Violence, a felony 4, sentenced to: prison 15 months, credit 116 days. He was also ordered to pay court costs.

Doniven Helm, 22, Van Wert, Domestic Violence, M1, sentenced to: 2 years community control, 60 days jail with work release 30 days jail at later date, 50 hrs community service, substance abuse and mental assessment and treatment, 1 year intensive probation, ordered to pay monthly probation fee, partial appointed counsel fees, and costs.

Violations

Austin Clark, 21, Van Wert, admitted to violating his community control by failing to report to probation. Sentenced to: 47 days jail, credit for 7 days served, $250 fine, partial appointed counsel fees, and court costs.

Alexander Chorvas, 24, Van Wert, admitted to violating his bond by failing to report to probation. New bond set at $25,000 cash or commercial surety. Trial date to be set on underlying charge.
