Changes of plea

Ronald Harsh Sr., 49, Paulding, changed his plea to guilty to an amended charge of theft, misdemeanor 1, He was then sentenced to 180 days jail, all suspended, two years community control and one year intensive probation. He was also ordered to pay restitution $28 to Kathy Lee, costs and partial appointed counsel; and attend substance abuse and mental health assessment and treatment.

Chad Fowler, 34, Van Wert, changed his plea to guilty to an amended charge of importuning, a felony 5. The court ordered a pre-sentence investigation and set sentencing for April 27.

Bond violation

Keith Bailey, 34, Van Wert, admitted to violating his bond by failing to report to probation since July 2018. New bond set at $10,000 cash or commercial surety and pretrial set for April 8.

Monday

Sentencing

Christina Hemker, 31, Fort Jennings, receiving stolen property, a felony 4; and failure to comply with the order of a police officer (fleeing), a felony 3. She was sentenced to: receiving — 18 months prison; and fleeing — 30 months prison, concurrent, credit 132 days served and costs. Hearing on restitution to be set.

Tuesday

Arraignment

John Satek, 57, Florence, Kentucky, entered a not guilty plea to improper handling firearm in motor vehicle, a felony 4; and improper handling firearm in motor vehicle, a felony 5. Bond — surety and pretrial set for May 8.

Wednesday

Time waiver

Kim Miller, 54, Van Wert, signed a written time waiver in open court and requested additional time. Pretrial set for May 20. Defendant’s bond changed to surety bond.

Leiayre Freeman, 27, Lima, signed a written time waiver in open court and requested additional time. Trial set for April 20 is continued. Pretrial to be set.

Adam Stripe, 42, Van Wert, signed a written time waiver in open court and requested additional time. Pretrial 5/20/20 @ 10 am

Violations

Joshua Carroll, 32, Van Wert, Admitted to violating his community control by using meth. He was then sentenced to: 180 days in jail on each of two counts, concurrent, credit for 75 days already served.

Change of plea

Charles Miller, 64, Van Wert, changed his plea to guilty to an amended charge of theft from a person in a protected class, a felony 4. The court ordered a pre-sentence investigation and set sentencing for May 20.

Chad Diltz, 43, Van Wert, changed his plea to guilty to possession of heroin, a felony 5. He then requested and was granted Intervention in Lieu of Conviction, and his case was stayed pending completion of the treatment program.

Sentencing

Ashley Lewis, 40, Convoy, two counts gross sexual imposition, each a felony 3, having previously been found guilty by jury trial. Sentenced to 60 months prison each, consecutive, credit 45 days served, Tier 2 sex offender (every 180 days for 25 years). She was also ordered to pay costs.

Nathan Dunn, 37, Van Wert, complicity, a felony 3; permitting drug abuse, a felony 5; and receiving stolen property, a felony 5. He was sentenced to: complicity — 36 months prison; permitting — 12 months prison; and receiving: 12 months prison, all concurrent, credit 15 days served. He was also ordered to pay court costs and restitution of $637 to victim.
