DELPHOS — After two months of shuttering their stores due to the COVID-19 outbreak, retailers across the state were permitted to reopen on Tuesday.

Local boutique owner Vicky Kayser was relieved to be back in business.

“We had a really good day Tuesday,” Kayser said Wednesday. “Our customers are starving for retail therapy. They miss shopping. I had a lady call Tuesday who said she told her husband Victorian Rose is the safest place for her to be and she came in and shopped her little heart out.”

The closure caught Kayser right at the change of seasons.

“We had new shipments that came in the week we closed,” Kayser said. “We had to get all the winter items rearranged and we unboxed and put some spring and summer clothing and accessories out,” Kayser said. “We’re redoing the store now to make it lighter and not so winter-heavy.”

Kayser and her staff will wear masks but its up to their customers if they choose to wear one or not. They are also observing the six feet social distancing and disinfecting with Clorox wipes everything, including the telephone, key pads, scanners, doorknobs, counter tops — anything that is touched by anyone many times a day.

The boutique is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday.

Small Town Flea Market also opened its doors on Tuesday.

Owner Vicky Coil was pleased with the first day as well.

“Tuesday was a good day for sales,” Coil said. “Everyone was happy to be out and doing something normal. They enjoyed us being back open.”

Coil said she was glad to be back, too.

“I was so excited I woke up at 2 a.m. Tuesday and couldn’t get back to sleep,” she said.

Coil had a lot of new items from vendors, including wood crafts and antiques.

Small Town Flea Market hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
