DELPHOS — The Delphos Eagles Lodge was at near capacity Saturday for the annual Delphos Area Chamber of Commerce Dinner.

“Small business is the heart of the business community here in the Delphos area, which is why the Delphos Chamber of Commerce holds this event each year. We are here tonight to honor a number of businesses, non-profit businesses or clubs along with individuals for their outstanding business achievements, civic contributions and for their community commitment,” Chamber Executive Director Maria Diltz said to the crowd. “Whether those contributions have been financial in nature or donations of their time and effort, all of the businesses tonight have shown that giving back to the community is an essential component of running a successful business.”

Chamber special award winners were: Non-profit Business/Club of the Year — Delphos Senior Citizens, Inc.; Community Involvement Business of the Year — First Federal Bank; Economic Impact Business of the Year — D&D Ingredients Disributors; and Small Business of the Year — Ace Hardware.

Special recognition was also given to businesses celebrating 25 year increments — 25, 50, 75 years in business, etc. This year there were 14 businesses that qualified for this award, which included a wooden engraved clock:

— Celebrating 25 years WCOIL, Van Wert Family Dentistry, Toledo Molding & Die, OT&T, Inc., Museum of Postal History, First Family Broadcasting, Fairfield Inn -Lima, Elite Naturescapes and Advantage Cleaners;

— Celebrating 50 years - Ohio Cycleworx and K&M Tire;

— Celebrating 100 years - Delphos Tent & Awning and News Gazette Printing; and

— Celebrating 125 years - TSC Communications

Other nominees for the special awards were:

Non-Profit Business/Club of Year: The Delphos Public Library, Delphos Running Club (finalist), Delphos Optimist Club, Knights of Columbus, SAFY and St. Peter Lutheran Church - Kids Breakfast.

Community Involvement Business of the Year: Vancrest of Delphos, Dairy Hut, Westrich Furniture, Schrader Realty, Downtown Fitness and Superior Credit Union (finalist).

Economic Impact Business of the Year: Unverferth Manufacturing (finalist) and Vanamatic.

Small Business of the Year: Woof Boom, Ivy Hutch (finalist), Ultrasound Special Events Inc., Westrich Furniture, Schrader Realty, K&K Lawn Care & Landscaping, 4K Tire, Harter & Schier Funeral Home, Downtown Fitness, Flowers on Fifth, Cabo Mexican Restaurant and Krendl Machine.

Before everyone was “off the races,” Diltz had some final words.

“Congratulations to all of the businesses nominated for all of the Awards tonight. We appreciate you continuing to serve Delphos and our surrounding areas, offering us a wide array of options for keeping our business local,” she said.
