DELPHOS — The Delphos Knights of Columbus held its annual Council Recognition on Thursday.

Chaplain of the Year is the Rev. Charles Obinwa.

Religious of the Year is Deacon John Sheeran. Sheeran conducted the Hour of Adoration and Priests Benediction every Monday evening until COVID-19 arrived.

Nate Ankerman is Knight of the Year. Ankerman served as Deputy Grand Knight and Field Agent for councils in the area. In addition, he prepared many meals for fundraisers such as the Delphos Canal Commission Spaghetti Dinner, St. John’s trip to Washington, D.C., for March for Life and helped spearhead the fish fries.

Lady of the Year is Dr. Jen Hohman. Dr. Hohman is on St. John’s Wellness and Playground Improvement Committee, the Benefit Auction Committee, is retreat director for the Women’s Welcome Retreat, is a member of the planning committee for The Next Step adult formation group, is a parent leader for the Catholic Girls Club and is the physician instructor for the yearly puberty talk for fifth-grade girls.

Family of the year is the Denny and Connie Klausing family. The family spearheaded a drive to honor essential employees of the area during COVID-19 shutdown. The Klausing solicited donations and then provide meals, fruit, snacks and more to area doctors, nurses, firefighters, police officers, EMTs and truck drivers and provided the Jefferson and St. John’s classes of 2020 with goodie bags during their cruise night.

Phil Hablitzel is Volunteer of the Year. Hablitzel volunteers at the Thrift Shop and fish fries and helped at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Spencerville during remodeling.

Addison Mueller is Youth of the Year. Mueller is the daughter of Ross and Kristy Mueller and worked the fish fries in the carry out division. She is also the 2020 St. John’s Homecoming Queen.

The council also reported $1,339 in the Measure Up Campaign which was donated to St. John’s and Jefferson’s special needs programs.
