VAN WERT – Main Street Van Wert’s Hidden Spaces tour is back with new places for residents to observe and learn about. This year five secret locations are on the tour, all for the first time.

Main Street Van Wert Director Mitch Price said tickets for the tour are $10 and spaces will likely sell out before Friday. He encourages people to stop by MSVW and get their tickets. The tour is from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. so people can still enjoy the John Denver Tribute featuring Ted Vigil at Fountain Park afterward.

“We have some unique places that people have never been in,” said Price. “They will be revealed on Friday when you come to the tour.”

All of the hidden spaces are located downtown on Washington Street, Main Street, and Central Avenue. A map will be provided the day of the tour.

“You may have to walk a little bit further than some of the tours in the past, but I guarantee it will be worth it,” said Price. “People like to see stuff that they have never seen before. A lot of people get into the history of Van Wert.”

The tour is self-guided and each building will have a little bit of historical information provided with it.

Price said the tour allows for people to get together for fun and fellowship. The tour also offers nostalgia for those who want to reminisce what a building or a space used to be.

“It brings back a lot of memories if you’ve lived in Van Wert for a long time,” said Price.

Four out of the five buildings on the tour are currently utilized on the first floor, but the tour offers a view of unutilized spaces in the buildings. Price also noted that the spaces aren’t always remodeled or 100 percent cleaned up.

“It’s about seeing stuff where there was a business in there or something was in there before,” said Price. “We hope we can continue this for a long time. It really helps bring people downtown. It’s a great tour if you enjoy being outside and want to see some stuff you’ve never seen before.”

The Hidden Spaces tour will take place from 5-8 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 9. Tickets can be purchased at MSVW, Truly Divine, or Collin’s Fine Foods. Tickets can also be purchased online by following the link on the Hidden Spaces Facebook page.
