DELPHOS — David Hurles, STNA, from the Meadows of Delphos is one the recipients of the Trilogy Difference-Maker Award this year.

Only three Certified Resident Care Associates were awarded this year out of over 110 nominees. Hurles won a $150 Visa card and a spa package for him to use when he goes to Trilogy’s Spring Meeting in Indianapolis this April.

Hurles has worked for Trilogy since 2005.

“I enjoy my job every much,” Hurles told The Delphos Herald. “I enjoy my hall and I like to sit with my patients whenever I can when they are upset or just need someone to talk to. They appreciate it so much. Some don’t have family to come and see them; we are their family.”

Hurles grew up in nursing homes.

“My family owned nursing homes and I know you have to keep doing your best for the residents,” he said.

Hurles said the Meadows is the only place he’s worked that the administration gets out on the floor and works beside him.

“They care about their employees and how they can make their jobs better,” said Hurles, who had been known to buy small items for residents and spend personal time with them.

Hurles said he’s also earned gas card bonuses, no call in or tardy bonuses and more.

Those at the Meadows of Delphos appreciate Hurles as well.

“He is an amazing, hard-working resident advocate,” Meadows of Delphos Executive Director Amber Merriman said. “Our residents and families adore him. He goes above and beyond.”

Hurles and his wife, Beth, a Registered Nurse at Lima Memorial Health System Hospice, have two children and seven grandchildren. In his spare time, Hurles enjoys going to auctions.
