DELPHOS — The library saw an uptick in its circulation from 2017 figures for 2018. Director Kelly Rist reported to the board of trustees on Wednesday circulation year-to-date for December was 313,840 with an increase of 13,295 from 2017.

“We continue to grow and that number will be even higher once we receive an official number from the state,” Rist added.

December’s circulation was also higher than the previous year with one day less of operation. Seventeen new patrons were also added in December.

The trustees took care of housekeeping items Wednesday, electing Cindy Metzger to serve as president, Pat Poling as vice president and Jane Rutledge as secretary.

Discussion continues on a handicap ramp to offer ADA compliant access to the Carnegie portion of the library.

“I have asked Cross Excavation to look at the area we would install a ramp and give me specs for concrete and some other things,” Rist said.

The ramp has been on the agenda for almost two years now with an affordable, viable solution still sought.

Rist also gave a financial update, noting that Public Library Funds, which provide the majority of the library’s funding, are still projected to decrease in the new governor’s biennial budget.

Rist also presented an updated Credit Card Policy for the trustees to adopt.
