VAN WERT — On Tuesday, the Van Wert County General Health District reported 18 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the county.

The health department is investigating an outbreak at the Cooper Farms Cooked Meats plant in Van Wert. The facility has had five confirmed cases and other symptomatic individuals are being monitored. The health department is working closely with Cooper Farms in an attempt to prevent the further spread of the virus.

Eight of the 18 confirmed cases have recovered from the virus. One person is currently hospitalized and eight are self-isolating at home.

Of the 18 cases, there have been cases reported in the following age ranges: one in the range from 0-19 years, four from 20-29 years, two from 30-39 years, two from 50-59 years, five from 60-69 years, three from 70-79 years, and one in the 80+ age group.
