DELPHOS — Mother Nature put a damper on the final Delphian Social Club Downtown Social Friday evening with light rain on and off during the first several hours of the event.

Three hundred-plus guests sought shelter under the tent during the rain.

The events were held on the lot at Fourth and Main streets purchased by the Delphians and the Delphos Area Chamber/Delphos Canal Days.

“We hope to have renderings of what the lot will look when we’re done,” Delphian and Canal Days Committee member Chad Schrader said. “We’ll be looking at and applying for grants and if we receive grants, things will move along a little faster than we planned. We all were kind of looking at a five-year -plan.”

Schrader said the socials did what the club expected.

“They brought everyone downtown and maybe it will spur someone to invest in our downtown and do something,” Schrader said.

The city has recently installed a sewer line on the property and a water line is next. Electric has also been installed by Schwinnen Electric.

“We couldn’t ask for better support from the community and the local businesses,” Schrader said.

Donations for the betterment of the lot can sent to “The Lot Fund” in care of the Delphos Chamber.
