DELPHOS — Florence J. Vogt Shenk, 99, of Delphos passed away on Wednesday at Vancrest Healthcare Center in Delphos.

She was born Aug. 30, 1919, to John and Veronica (Kemper) Saum, who preceded her in death. She was united in marriage to Bernard F. Vogt on May 1, 1940; he preceded her in death on June 9, 1975. She then married Robert L. Shenk on Aug. 4, 1979; he preceded her in death on Aug. 4, 2008.

She is survived by four daughters, Rosella (Tom) Krietemeyer of Delphos, Anita (Tom) Carter of Fort Wayne, Janette (Roger) Gerdeman of Columbus and Diana (Steve) Warnecke of Delphos; eight grandchildren, Barbara (Dave) Gerding, Deb (Mike) Gabel, Sarah (Darrin) Burgei, Robert (Jennifer) Carter, Mary Beth (Drew) Meyers, Denise (John) Vitullos, Brenda Gerdeman and Nicholas (Diana) Warnecke; and 16 great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her son, Kenneth Vogt; her brother, Bill Saum; and her sister, Vera Osting.

She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, CL of C Council 40, Alter Rosary Society and a graduate of Fort Jennings High School. Florence was Co-owner of Vogt and Vogt Restoration for over 25 years and then she was a major buyer for Shenks for over 40 years, working until she was 88 years old. She was an avid reader, a wonderful seamstress and a world traveler. In her early years she enjoyed going bowling and loved working crossword puzzles.

Mass of Christian burial will begin at 11 a.m. on Monday, with visitation one hour prior at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery.
