DELPHOS — The Blue Jays picked up a 47-36 non-conference win over Bath on Tuesday night. Brady Parrish led St. John’s with 19 points and Brady Grothaus added 14 to help the Jays grab their 13th win of the season.

“Our guys did a lot of things right tonight,” said St. John’s head coach Aaron Elwer. “Our shooting percentage wasn’t where I hoped it would be but when we did shoot, we tried the best we could. It was a tight fourth quarter but we kept pushing through. Bath executed well and played a good game.”

St. John’s had things rolling from the start and held a 14-7 lead after the first quarter. Isaac Fairchild had three baskets and Aiden Rode dropped a 3-pointer to give the Blue Jays the momentum early on.

The Wildcats battled back in the second quarter and spread the ball around. Britton Hall drained a triple for Bath but St. John’s responded with a 3-pointer from Rode, his second of the night and held a 23-18 lead at halftime.

Parrish went to work in the paint for the Jays but points were hard to come by in the third quarter as St. John’s was held to just eight. Andrew Stahr and Ian Armentrout connected from downtown and cut the Blue Jays lead to one point by the end of the quarter.

Grothaus helped push St. John’s over the edge late in the fourth by going 6-for-9 from the charity stripe. More importantly, they held Bath to just six points in the final 8:00 and held on for a 70-36 win.
