WEST MILTON — Columbus Grove’s wrestling team had a successful day the Milton-Union Bulldog Invitational Saturday.

The Bulldogs returned home with a pair of individual champions and a third place finish in the 11 team field. Columbus Grove finished third with 197 points as Brookville won the invitational with 267 points and Coldwater was second with 224.5 points.

Columbus Grove’s two champions were in the upper weight classes in Dylan Sargent at 220 pounds and Jeff Meyer at 285 pounds. The Bulldogs also had a pair of runners-up in Caleb Langhals at 120 pounds and Brock Sargent at 138 pounds.

Dylan Sargent went 4-0 in the 220 pound pool to win his championship. Sargent defeated Coldwater’s Nolan Tobe 12-5 to win his championship. Sargent had a pair of pins on the day and a 4-2 decision over Matt Hamm of Brookville.

Meyer also went 4-0 at 285 pounds to win his title as he defeated Jon Mitchell of Brookeville 11-2, major decision, to win the pool. In going 4-0, Meyer had a pair of pins and a 2-1 win over Nathaniel Armstrong of Alter during the day.

Langhals finished second at 120 pounds as he fell in the championship match to J. C. Fox of Dixie 18-7, major decision. Langhals went 2-0 in hi spool as he pinned Joseph Tri-Rudolf of Badin on 3:39 and defeated James Balcom of Brookville 6-2.

Brock Sargent finished second at 138 pounds as he fell to Peyton Brown of Milton-Union in the championship match 5-0. Sargent advanced to the title match by pinning Kane Schmidt f Badin in 2:27 and defeated Ethan Emmons of Badin 11-6 in the semi-finals.

Sargent went 2-0 in his pool winning both matches by pins.

Luke Kaufman finished third at 106 pounds as he went 3-2 in his pool as he pinned Elliot Abrams of Tippecanoe in his final match in 1:10. Nick Wolverton finished sixth as he didn’t win a match.

Ezra Jones finished third at 182 pounds as he pinned Jonathan Polido of Badin in 51 seconds of the third place match. Jones went 2-1 in his pool as he lost to Chase Dyer of Brookeville in his opening match 10-6.

Dylan Pitts finished fourth at 160 pounds as he lost in the third place match to Badin’s Cameron Lapthom 7-5. Pitts went 3-1 in his pool as he lost to champion Hayden Pummel of Indian Lake in their match 17-0, technical fall.

Ryan Bogart finished fifth at 160 pounds as he pinned Waynesville’s Joseph Cockerham in 1:38 of the fifth place match. Bogart went 1-2 in his poll as his lone win was a pin of Andrew Chen of Badin in 1:41. Justin Flanders finished fifth at 145 pounds as he pinned Carder Hakes of Indian Lake in 1:50. Flanders went 1-2 in his pool as his lone win was a pin of Eli Tobe of Coldwater in 2:42.

Ian Langhals finished fifth at 195 pounds for Grove.
