CONTINENTAL — Columbus Grove overcame an early deficit Tuesday night to defeat Continental 54-28 in Putnam County League action.

Coming off a big win over Bath on Saturday, the Lady Bulldogs struggled out of the gate as the Pirates had a 10-8 lead after the opening quarter. Columbus Grove turned the game around in the second quarter with an 18-5 scoring edge as they took a 26-15 into halftime.

A 15-7 run in the third quarter by the Bulldogs (1-0, 3-0) gave them a 41-22 lead going to the fourth quarter.

Rylee Sybert dropped in three three-pointers to lead the Bulldogs with 16 points. Kenzie King added 11 points, along with five steals, and Amy Vorst had 10 points and seven rebounds. Angel Schneider scored nine points and grabbed 10 rebounds and Sydney Witteborg grabbed nine rebounds.

Columbus Grove out-rebounded the Pirates 36-28 in the game. The Bulldog defense also forced 28 Continental turnovers in the game.

Catelyn Etter led the Pirates with 10 points.

KALIDA — Coldwater jumped out to an early lead Tuesday evening, then held off all Kalida challenges to overcame their deficit in a 40-38 non-league win for the Cavaliers.

Coldwater grabbed the early lead outscoring the Ladycats 17-9 in the opening quarter. Kalida battled back in the second quarter to trail 21-20 at halftime with an 11-4 scoring advantage.

The Lady Cavaliers increased their lead in the third quarter with a 16-10 scoring edge before Kalida outscored them 8-3 in the fourth quarter to fall two points shy of a complete comeback.

Lauren Gilliland had a double-double for Cavaliers (2-0) with 13 points and 13 rebounds and Kate Leichty added 10 points and grabbed five rebounds. Alli May added nine points.

Lauren Langhals led Kalida (1-3) with 14 points and McKayla Maag had nine points. Grace Klausing pulled down 14 rebounds for the Ladycats.
