FORT RECOVERY — Jefferson was originally scheduled to play Fairview on Saturday but that game has been pushed back to Feb. 2 and they faced Fort Recovery instead. The Indians played spoiler when they defeated the Cats 67-24 in their second contest of the season.

Payton Jutte led the way for Fort Recovery with 25 points and teammate Grant Knapke finished with 13.

Jefferson struggled to find the basket and shot just 24 percent from the field and only 14 percent from the foul line. Hunter Mericle led the charge for the Wildcats with 8 points.

“This was a game where we knew we would be athletically and physically outmatched, but I wanted to see how our players competed for 32 minutes and handled adversity in a loud gymnasium,” said Jefferson head coach Jordan Jettinghoff. “The score doesn’t do justice to our players’ efforts tonight, but I am proud that we competed and battled with probably one of the top teams in our area and probably in Division III again, we grew up tonight as a team and I am happy with our effort.”

Jefferson falls to 0-2 on the season and will take on Perry this Saturday.
