DELPHOS — Jefferson came away with a huge victory on Friday night with a 10-3 win over the Lancers.

Lincolnview jumped out to an early lead when Clayton Leeth scored on a ground out by Trey Evans. His RBI put the Lancers up 1-0 in the top of the first inning.

Keegan Farris did a nice job holding the Wildcats scoreless through the first three innings and retired the first seven batters before Jefferson erupted for five runs in the fourth.

Wiseman blasted a hit to left field and sent Colin Bailey around to score and tie the game at 1-1. Braxton Scalf helped clear the bases with a triple that scored Logan Gallmeier and Wiseman but a bad throw from the outfield sent Scalf in to score as well to give Jefferson a 4-1 advantage.

Logan Herron capped off the inning by taking advantage of a wild pitch to extend the Cats lead to 5-1.

The Lancers got a couple runs back in the top half of the sixth inning. A walk with bases loaded scored Carson Fox and an infield grounder by Kyle Hamilton sent Evans in to score as Lincolnview cut the Jefferson lead to two runs.

The Cats locked things up in the bottom of the sixth and produced five more runs. Jackson Ream singled to center, knocking in Jacob Simmons and Scalf to make it 7-3, Jefferson. Gunnar Bodine was brought in to run for Ream at first and later scored on a wild pitch.

Jaden Lucas knocked in a pair with a double to left field and put the Wildcats up 10-3. Herron was brought in relief in the seventh inning and slammed the door shut on the Lancers offense.

” We got some timely hits today,” said Jefferson head coach Doug Geary. “We were overly aggressive early in the count but when we got deep in the count, good things happened.”Our young guys are eager and continue to battle every game. They are very coachable and it’s fun to watch them compete.”
