DELPHOS — Crestview took an early lead Friday night and never looked back when they traveled to meet the Wildcats on The Stage. Javin Etzler led the way for the Knights with 17 points while Kaden Etzler and Derick Dealey added 11 each.

Both Etzler’s, Drew Kline and Dealey all had three’s in the opening quarter as Crestview jumped out to a 27-10 lead. Javin Etzler also nailed three jumpers to bring his total to nine in the period.

The early barrage by the Knights left the Cats demoralized for the second quarter as they only put up five points. Solid defense and fast breaks allowed Crestview to hold a 37-15 lead at the half.

The Knights were in the driver’s seat in the third quarter and went on a 23-3 run. Kalen Etzler drained one from downtown and Dealey added one as well to make it 60-18.

“We knew heading in that it was an uphill battle,” said Jefferson head coach Jordan Jettinghoff. “We compeated for about four minutes and then they turned it on. We finished strong and battled the best we could. We need to learn an move on from this game.”

After a successful run in the third, Crestview backed off in the fourth quarter with several younger players entering the game. Michael Joseph hit a three late in the game as the Knights rolled over Jefferson 65-28.

“We had a good first quarter,” said Crestview head coach Jeremy Best. “I though we lost some of our focus in the second but we regrouped at halftime and I like the way we came out and established ourselves. Overall it was good, but our guys need to continue to buy in all the time and play with a sense of purpose. This was a league game and we need every win we can get in the NWC. We are still fighting to get back on top, but we need to continue to take care of ourselves.”

Jefferson now sits at 0-10 (0-2 NWC) while Crestview improves to 9-1 (2-1 NWC).
