LIMA — St. John’s began their season with a 63-58 win over Lima Perry on Saturday. Isaac Fairchild and Brady Grothaus led the Jays with 16 points and Brady Parrish had 15.

The Commodores held St. John’s to seven points in the opening quarter. Brayden Knight led the way for Perry with 13 points and Will Knight added 12. Chazz Jackson racked up 11 points for the Commodores.

St. John’s came roaring back to life in the second quarter and outscored Perry 22-10. The Blue Jays shot 55-percent from the field to help them enjoy a 29-25 lead at halftime.

After being outplayed in the third quarter, St. John’s battled in the fourth to secure a 63-58 victory. The Blue Jays will be back in action Tuesday when they host USV.
