DELPHOS — Lincoln Mueller struckout 10 Crestview batters and only allowed two hits to help push the Blue Jays to an 8-0 victory on Wednesday night. Gavin Fittro went 2-for-3 with a pair of RBI’s but it was the 11 walks issued by the Knights that set the tone for the game.

St. John’s picked up their first run in the bottom of the first inning when Landen Grothaus scored on a error to make it 1-0. A lightning delay put things on hold for well over an hour but once play resumed, it was all Blue Jays.

Mueller didn’t miss a step and continued to dominate throughout the game following the delay but it took St. John’s until the fourth inning to cross the plate again.

Fittro took advantage of a passed ball and made a quick dash for the plate to extend the Jays lead to 2-0. He came through again in the bottom of the fifth with a two RBI double to left field that scored Grothaus and Brady Kerner and gave St. John’s a comfortable 4-0 advantage.

Zane Wertenberger and Fittro scored on passed balls by Crestview and extended their lead to 6-0. They grabbed two more runs in the bottom of the sixth inning and held on for an 8-0 victory.

Brady Kerner was brought in to close out the game in the top half of the seventh and retired the side in order.

St. John’s will travel to Van Wert to take on the Cougars Friday at 6 p.m.
