MIDDLE POINT — The Lady green took advantage of a slow start by Lincolnview to take down the Lancers on Saturday night 49-40.

Ottoville opened the game on a 9-0 after three pointers by Jocelyn Geise and Elise Kramer and free throws by Peyton Wannemacher and Alexa Honigford caused Lincolnview to take their first timeout three and a half minutes into the first quarter.

The Lady Lancers finally got on the board following the break when Annie Mendenhall drilled a three pointer on a pass delivered by Lana Carey.

Mendenhall hit her second three pointer of the opening period a few minutes later to cut the Ottoville lead to 12-9, but Geise would answer with a triple of her own with 18 seconds left to give the Lady Green a six point lead

Elise Kramer put the exclamation mark on the first half when she broke out to score seven of Ottoville’s 12 second quarter points, and take a nine point lead into the half at 27-18.

The Lady Lancers would make a run to get back in the game in the third quarter after a basket from Kendall Bollenbacher and a pair of three pointers by Mendenhall and Brianna Ebel cut the deficit to two at 28-26.

Ottoville head coach Michelle Leach took a timeout to reset her team and drew up a play to set up Elise Kramer for three on a dish by Tori Thomas.

Medenhall answered on the following possession for Lincolnview, sinking a three of her own to make the score 31-29 before the Lady Green would stretch the lead out to four at the end of the third quarter, making the score 35-31.

Ottoville went on a 6-2 run to open the final quarter, and from that point on, the Lancers would not be able to cut the lead to any less than four.

Geise, Thomas, and Wannemacher would combine for 11 of Ottoville’s 14 fourth quarter points to seal the deal.

Kramer led the Lady Green with 16, followed by Geise’s 14. Bollenbacher paced the Lancers with 12, and Mendenhall scored 11 points.

Ottoville will take the court against Fort Jennings on Tuesday, while Lincolnview’s next game will be at home against Paulding on Thursday.
