CLEVELAND — The Browns came away with a 30-10 victory in their first preseason game of the year Thursday night. The Cleveland defense held the visiting Redskins to one touchdown and impressed fans and coaches alike.

Baker Mayfield went 6-for-5 for 77-yards that included a 24-yard touchdown pass to Rashard Higgins in the first quarter. Case Keenum helped Washington bounce back with a 46-yard touchdown pass to Robert Davis to tie things up at 7-7.

Browns linebacker Mack Wilson returned an interception 40-yards for a touchdown in the second quarter to put Cleveland up 14-7.

Cleveland scored twice in the fourth to make it 30-10.

Former Ohio State quarterback Dwayne Haskins went 8-for-14 with 117-yards passing. Keenum struggled after going 1-for-10 in his short time on the field.

Although Dontrell Hilliard had the majority of the workload in the backfield, D’Ernest Johnson led the team with 23-yards on five carries.

The Browns will be back in action on Aug. 17 when they travel to Indianapolis.
